African or African American actor (m) for the role of Jim in Huck Finn

The English Theatre Frankfurt (ETF) is a private English-speaking theatre. It is the third oldest and largest English-speaking theatre on the European mainland with space for 300 guests per performance.

The ETF usually produces five English-language plays of various genres per season and shows both classics and contemporary plays and musicals. The programme also includes at least one play for young audiences. The roles are played exclusively by native English-speaking theatre professionals.

For open air events this summer and the 2020/2021 season, the English Theatre Frankfurt is looking for an English-speaking performer of African or Afro-American origin to play the role of Jim in the play for a young audience Huck Finn (Mark Twain, adapted by Sean Aita).

You will play in a small creative team under the direction of PJ Escobio.
The summer open air shows will be on Fridays till Sundays in the afternoon. During the season 20/21 up to 10 performances per month are staged in our own venue as well as at various schools within the framework of previously fixed tour dates. The performances in 20/21 take place in the morning only.


The applicant should have passion for and experience in theatre, preferably also in the field of children and youth theatre. A native speaker of English is required.

Playing age is 25-45 years.

Rehearsal period: June/July

Performances start: July/August

Severely disabled applicants will be given special consideration if they are equally qualified.
Please submit only copies, as these will not be returned for cost reasons. If you receive a written rejection, your documents will be kept until the deadline according to §15 AGG and then destroyed.
Travel expenses to the interview cannot be covered.
